CLOCKS by the Shifter, I have been making clocks on and off for the past decade,I started with found objects, usually of a flat, round, metal, and dangerous look. I scoured salvage yards for industrial chunks of metal fit for desinging the types of clocks I was interested in. I then gravitated to producing clocks in small numbers by designing them in Autocad. I would then have the clocks cut out of aluminum. Each clock is textured by hand via grinding. In the past I created copper and brass clocks but the cost of those materials did not warrant further use. I went to designing the clocks on the compure because, maybe being a closet control freak, I had alot more control of what the clocks looked like. A while back I made a handful of clocks out of found circuit boards, and others of spray foam insulation. I hope to produce more clocks of this colorful pop nature. I have been creating art in some form or another for the past 20 years. Other meduim I have worked in include oil painting, photography, screen-printing, super-8 film, digital video, and the last year i have created, produced, acted in, filmed, edited, created soundtracks for my weekly TV program SHIFTERLAND, which airs each Tuesday at 7PM PST in Seattle on channel 77, or online at scantv.org. My other efforts concentrate on photography. For the past decade I have almost used black and white infrared film exclusively.
